Programme of events and activities

SUMMER 2008

Hamble Sea Scouts meet every Friday of the year, except Christmas week. During the summer boating season we meet from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Mercury Marina. Scouts may arrive up to 30 minutes before parade. Boating ends at 9:30 or when it gets dark. Weekend boating is tide and weather dependant, times will be announced on Friday evenings. During the autumn and winter we meet at our Headquarters in Hamble Lane from 7pm to 9:30pm. For a copy of Terry's Tide Table for Mercury Marina Click Here.
Every Tuesday evening at 18:30 during term time swimming at Hamble Community Sports College indoor swimming pool. During the summer, when the pool is closed, Kayaking will be provided on Tuesday evenings by Eliot and Duncan, at Mercury Marina.

RYA Dinghy Training

We are now recognised by the RYA and can offer training under the National Sailing Scheme during the summer season. Check the training programme as dates and times are subject to the tide.

MAY 2008

We are aiming to start boating this week at Mercury Marina. Bring boating kit (see separate advice letter) and towel. We have no changing facilities so will meet at HQ if raining or very windy. Boating starts at 6:30 and ends when itgets dark or 21:30 whichever is earlier. Please ensure you are on time.

Nene White Water Centre Day Trip. ( 3* Holders or above. Will also take some 2* holders Provided they have a good Eskimo roll ).

Kayaking Mercury Marina (LW 20:30)
Saturday 10th
Hamble River Raid. Meet 10am HQ to collect marquee. Crews meet Mercury at 1pm to collect boats. Race starts 3pm.

Sunday 8th
RAFYC Open Day. Meet 9:30 Mercury to collect Boats and take to RAFYC for 11am start. Return to Mercury for 6pm. Will need help all day at RAFYC. BBQ provided.
Friday 13th
Boating Mercury (HW 20:25).
Saturday 14th
Splashdown Daytrip. Cost £15 including Nando's Meal. (For those who attended St Georges Parade).
Sunday 15th
Sailing and Kayaking. Mercury 1pm - 4pm (HW 09:45, LW 15:15).
Friday 20th
Boating Mercury. (LW 18:45)
Saturday 21st

Any changes will be announced during our Friday meetings and in letters (if Scouts can remember to give them to you). If you are unsure whether an event is taking place please contact one of the leaders. Tide times were calculated by Terry so do not use them for navigation.
